When it comes to buying a new bathroom vanity, you have your work cut out for you. There’s a lot to consider and keep in mind. For starters, the existing décor of your bathroom will dictate the style of vanity you should get. If you have a very modern look, you need to get a modern bathroom vanity. If your bathroom style is more antique, then find an antique bathroom vanity. But looks aren’t everything. You also need to consider if you want a single or double basin vanity, how many drawers you want, placement for the vanity mirror, etc.

Vanity Style

As was mentioned above, bathroom vanities come in many different shapes, sizes, styles, and designs. Typical styles include:

You’ll find that each style has its own unique manner and highlights. The one thing you want to steer clear of is mixing unlike styles. For example, if you have a very contemporary look in your bathroom, don’t try to make an antique styled vanity fit. Match colors and styles as closely as you can.

Bathroom Vanity Sink Style

One specific feature of a bathroom vanity is the sink. Most vanities have a sink built into the top portion. Each vanity incorporates a sink differently. Some are submerged/sunk into the top of the vanity while others are designed for vessel sinks (sinks that rest on the top surface). Vessel sinks are the newest style of bathroom sink that is quickly becoming popular in homes. These sinks have a more modern look and subsequently are incorporated into modern bathroom vanities. When shopping for a new bathroom vanity, you need to ask yourself what type of sink you want. A very modern vanity might not be able to handle a submerged/sunk in sink.

Number of Sinks

You also need to consider how many sinks you want. Double basin vanities are quite possible and convenient in a master bathroom. However, if you don’t have the room for a two-sink vanity, you’re options are automatically limited. So before you decide on one sink or two, measure the amount of space you have in your bathroom for a vanity and then shop around and compare sizes of single and double bathroom vanities to see what your bathroom can handle.
